What Is Truth?

When Pilate asked Jesus, “What is truth?” (John 18:38), the Savior stood in silence. Yet Himself being the answer.

In Judea, Galilee, Samaria, and Jerusalem, He opened blind eyes, healed the lame, and even raised the dead (Matthew 11:5). His very works testified that truth had come into the world.

Truth is absolute—it cannot be bent or reshaped. What comes from God is truth; what comes from the devil are always lies (John 8:44).

The Lie of the Enemy

Since the beginning, the devil has tried to silence or twist truth into a lie. Lies enslave the mind, keeping people captive in fear, error, and sin.

But Jesus declared: “You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32). Knowing the truth is gaining knowledge about the Son of God, and knowledge is assimilated into the mind. Hence, this knowledge of Christ dismantles the chains of lies holding the mind in captivity. Freedom is found only in Christ, who breaks the chains of deception and sets us free from sin.

The Victory of Christ

On September 10, 2025, an ambassador of truth was silenced by a bullet. Charlie Kirk, was a defender of the faith, too. Days before this tragic incident, he declared are powerful statement on his X account (formerly Twitter): “Jesus defeated death so you can live.”

Those words echo the heart of the gospel. That Jesus—the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:6)—defeated death through His sacrifice on the cross of Calvary so that we can be set free and find freedom in Christ.

Though sin brings death, “the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6:23). And while believers may sleep in the grave, Christ promises to raise them when “the trumpet of God” shall sound (1 Thessalonians 4:16).

A Defender of the Truth

Charlie’s testimony reminds us of Paul’s triumphant cry: “O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?” (1 Corinthians 15:55).

He lived as a new creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17). He fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith (2 Timothy 4:7). Now he awaits the crown of life promised to those who love the Lord (James 1:12; Revelation 2:10).

His legacy challenges us to also stand firm in the truth, even when lies threaten to surround us in our homes, schools, communities, and nations.

Living in the Truth Today

The enemy is working to destroy families and nations through deception. But God calls us to raise the standard of truth, let His truth be known and let His Word transform our lives (Romans 12:2). Let us put on the whole armour of God and pick up the sword of truth and let’s go into the battlefield as ambassadors of truth and bearers of hope. For truth shall always triumph. 

You will come to know the truth until truth becomes a person. Truth is not a construct—it is a Person, the Son of God. Jesus Himself declared: “If the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed” (John 8:36). We are empowered by the Truth Himself, and if He is for us, who can be against us? For the battle has already been won. Let us lift each trophy, each victory, in the glory of His name (Romans 8:31; 1 Corinthians 15:57).

Will you stand as a defender of truth today?

Truth will always triumph over fear and give you power over sin because truth is Christ Himself. Let us live and defend it with courage until the day He comes again.

John 1:16 For of His fullness we have all received, and grace upon grace.  

The righteous are vindicated and proclaimed worthy of the crown of life—the reward prepared for them in heaven by Christ, their Redeemer and Savior.

On the 10th of September, 2025, we heard the tragic and heartbreaking news of the assassination of Mr. Charlie Kirk—a God-fearing man who loved his family, his country, and his God. Yet evil finds no room for the truth of God. The truth rejects false worship, human ideologies that deflect from the Word of God, and instead stands firm, pointing straight and unwavering like a needle to the pole.

It is tragic that evil has taken away a man who stood for Christian values and opposed destructive ideologies that are breaking human society away from the purpose and meaning instituted by the Creator from the very beginning. Surely, he fought the good fight. His life is now deposited into the eternal bank of heaven. As the Bible promises, “Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life” (Revelation 2:10, New International Version). When the final trumpet sounds, he will rise to receive his eternal reward. And those of us who remain will be transformed to be like the Eternal One, translated to a place where death and the results of sin will only be a memory (1 Corinthians 15:52-53, NIV).

For those of us still living, it is time to stand up and speak the truth boldly in this fallen world that promotes human ideologies and worships false gods. As the Bible says, “Professing to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man” (Romans 1:22-23, NIV). To worship idols is to bow to lies and reject the true God. This is exactly what the Sabbath School lesson reminds us: false worship is anything that exalts human creation, human pride, or human ideology above the Creator Himself (Sabbath School Net, 2025). Ellen G. White emphasizes, “All false worship is spiritual adultery. The second precept, which forbids false worship, is also a command to worship God, and Him only serve. The Lord is a jealous God. He will not be trifled with” (White, 1913, p. 317).

To be morally upright is to love God and obey all His commandments. Yet since the Enlightenment, humanity has increasingly pushed God aside, esteeming what man values above what God has declared holy. But what is highly esteemed among men is often an abomination before God (Luke 16:15, NIV).

Therefore, this is a call to all Christians: Be soldiers of Christ, just as Charlie was. Proclaim liberty in Christ to those bound by the evil and demonic forces of this world. People today are lost in confusion—about God, family, gender, and race. Yet the truth is clear: God created mankind in His image, male and female (Genesis 1:27, NIV). Any distortion of this is the work of the enemy. Ellen G. White writes, “The enemy is working to lead men and women into a disregard of God’s law, to corrupt the soul, and to destroy the image of God in man” (White, 2002, p. 70).

So let us, the people of God, stand up, raise the standard high, and proclaim the righteousness of God wherever we are—in our workplaces, our homes, our marketplaces, and our daily business. May the name of God and the truth of His Word prevail forever.
